  • "Thyssen' Sche, Handelsgesellschaft - M. B. H., Köln A/Rh." Knife by Hoffnungswerk, Solingen. Handelsgesellschaft = Commercial company.


  • "Werkzeug-fabrik J. Gottlieb Peiseler, Remscheid-Haddenbach, gegr. 1819 / Dampfhammer, Stanz-Werke, Sandstrahlgeblase u Schleiterei." Manufacturers of steam hammers and stampings. The company was founded in 1819 and has 150 employees today.

  • "F. M. Pfaff A. G., Nähmaschinen Fabrik Kaiserslautern." Reverse depicts woman at sewing machine. Knife by Remington. A sewing machine factory founded in 1862 by Georg Michael Pfaff.

  • "Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen." Bierhoff knife. Lloyd was founded in 1857. In 1970, it merged with Hamburg-American Line to form Hapag-Lloyd A.G. From the middle of the 19th century through the 1920's Norddeutscher Lloyd was the major carrier of immigrants from Europe to the United States and a major mover of the mail.
